The international training course “Development of Sport Youth Council: An Effective Way to Promote Youth Participation” was held in Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia, in July 2024. The activity was hosted by NGO IUVENTA and gathered 20 participants from the project partner countries.

During the training, participants came together to learn how Sport Youth Councils and Sport Youth Boards can be created and used as practical mechanisms for strengthening youth participation in sport and community life. The training focused on the structure and purpose of these bodies, the roles and responsibilities of their members, and the steps needed to develop strategies and action plans.

Participants also discussed how young people can contribute to the work of sport organisations, clubs, associations and federations. Special attention was given to the importance of giving young people a real space to express their opinions, propose ideas and take part in decision-making processes that affect them.

The training used non-formal learning methods, including group work, discussions, practical exercises, presentations and exchange of experiences. It helped participants better understand how youth participation can be organised in a structured and sustainable way within the sport sector. This activity was an important step in preparing partners for the next project phase — the local trainings and the establishment of Sport Youth Councils and Sport Youth Boards in the partner countries.
