Sport Youth Council and Sport Youth Board – Strategy and Action Plan
As part of the P2P project, the document “Sport Youth Council and Sport Youth Board Strategy and Action Plan” was developed to support the newly created youth participation structures in planning their future work. The document was developed by TDM 2000 International as Deliverable 3.3 within Work Package 3 – Sport Youth Council and Youth Board.
This guide offers practical suggestions for Sport Youth Councils and Sport Youth Boards on how to create strategic and action plans. It helps young people and sport organisations understand how to define long-term goals, organise their work, assign responsibilities, set realistic timelines and plan the resources needed for future activities.
The document explains the difference between a strategic plan and an action plan. A strategic plan is presented as a long-term roadmap that defines goals and the general direction of the council or board, while an action plan breaks those goals into concrete tasks, responsibilities, deadlines and expected results. In this way, young people can better understand not only what they want to achieve, but also how and when they will achieve it.
A special focus is placed on important elements such as human resources, recruitment, training of new members, mentoring, timelines and fundraising. The guide also supports councils and boards in thinking about sustainability, partnerships, adaptability, teamwork and feedback as key elements for successful youth participation structures.
This document is an important tool because it helps Sport Youth Councils and Sport Youth Boards move from ideas to concrete action. By using the strategy and action planning approach, young people can identify priorities, plan activities, cooperate with sport organisations and contribute more actively to decision-making processes in sport. The document is available for download in the Results section of the project website.
