Youth Leadership Program
Within the P2P project, the Youth Leadership Program was developed to support young people in building leadership skills through sport and non-formal education. The program was developed by Conexão Jovem as Deliverable 4.1 within Work Package 4 – Youth Leadership Programmed..
The program includes both theoretical and practical activities that help young people develop self-confidence, communication, teamwork, responsibility, ethical decision-making, resilience and readiness for active participation in the community. It uses sport as a learning environment where young people can practise leadership, cooperation, fair play and inclusion in a practical and engaging way.
The manual is designed for young people involved in Sport Youth Councils, Sport Youth Boards and local sport or youth activities. It supports them in understanding what leadership means, how leadership skills can be developed through sport, and how these skills can be transferred to other areas of life, including education, community work and civic participation.
The Youth Leadership Program empowers members of the Youth Councils and Youth Boards by strengthening their knowledge, competences and soft skills, including leadership, teamwork, commitment, ethics, self-awareness, responsibility, drafting of recommendations and understanding active participation models. It also helps young people recognise their own potential, take initiative and contribute more meaningfully to their teams, organisations and communities.
A special value of the program is its focus on inclusivity and diversity. It encourages the creation of learning environments where all young people, regardless of their background or abilities, can participate equally, feel valued and develop as leaders. The Youth Leadership Program is available for download in the Results section of the project website.
