Sport Youth Councils and Sport Youth Boards Established in Partner Countries

Published by admin on

One of the most important results of the P2P project is the establishment of Sport Youth Councils and Sport Youth Boards in the partner countries. These structures create regular and organised spaces where young people can meet, discuss topics that are important to them and propose initiatives for improving sport and youth participation.

The establishment of these bodies followed several important project steps. First, participants took part in the international training in Vrnjačka Banja, where they learned about the development of Sport Youth Councils and Sport Youth Boards. After that, local trainings were organised in each partner country, focusing on how to set up these structures and how to create their strategies and action plans. The process was also supported by the practical guide, member selection guidelines, and strategy and action planning tools developed within the project.

Through the Sport Youth Councils and Sport Youth Boards, young people have the opportunity to express their needs, share their ideas and participate more actively in the work of sport organisations, clubs, associations and federations. This is an important step from occasional consultation towards more meaningful, structured and continuous youth involvement.

The establishment of these structures also shows that young people can contribute to sport governance when they are given trust, support and a clear framework for participation. By creating both local and advisory youth bodies, the project strengthened the connection between young people and sport decision-makers in the partner countries.
